I'm passionate about protecting our human rights. This first arose in secondary school when I learned about the horrific acts of cruelty committed in Bosnia and Rwanda, and continued to university where I studied politics and law. I wrote my undergraduate dissertation on female genital mutilation, specifically how cultural relativism could be reconciled with moral universalism. I've volunteered overseas with both Harvard University and Habitat for Humanity, and my brief career as a teacher allowed me help further the right to education and teach thousands of children and young people, and those working with them, about their human rights and those of others. Since then I've worked for a range of NGOs, public bodies, and government departments in the UK and New Zealand. I currently work in international development.
